EIDBI Services

Specialized Care for Every Child’s Journey

Our EIDBI (Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention) services offer children and young people with autism—or related developmental conditions—a comprehensive path to growth. Through individualized, evidence-based therapies, we help children develop communication, social, and adaptive skills—all while supporting families every step of the way.

We provide EIDBI services for children and young adults with autism, with a focus on building communication, social, and behavioral skills. Our goal is to help every child grow to their fullest potential while guiding and supporting families throughout the journey. These services are available to families across the Minneapolis area.

Speech Therapy

Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) is designed for children and young adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or related conditions. Using evidence-based methods, the program supports growth in essential developmental areas, including:

Each child’s treatment plan is tailored to their unique needs, encouraging independence and steady progress. Beyond direct therapy, EIDBI also provides families with education, coaching, and tools to ensure long-term success and consistency at home.

Understanding EIDBI

The EIDBI program takes a comprehensive, individualized approach to supporting children and young adults with ASD and related conditions. By combining multiple therapeutic methods, EIDBI creates a learning environment that highlights each child’s strengths while addressing their challenges.

  • Early intervention is at the core of EIDBI. Research shows that beginning services as soon as possible leads to stronger improvements in communication, behavior, and daily life skills.

  • Family involvement is central. Parents and caregivers are active participants, gaining strategies to reinforce learning at home and building confidence in supporting their child’s progress.

  • Alongside developmental goals, EIDBI also emphasizes emotional well-being and social connection, helping children form meaningful relationships and gain independence in everyday life.

Core Principles of EIDBI

Early

Focus on timely support during the most important stages of growth.

Intensive

Provide individualized, one-on-one therapy with the right level of hours for measurable progress.

Developmental

Support growth in communication, social, cognitive, and emotional skills.

Behavioral

Use proven strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), to encourage positive outcomes.

EIDBI vs. ABA

What’s the Difference?

While both EIDBI and ABA are highly effective, they differ in scope.

  • EIDBI: A comprehensive program that integrates multiple evidence-based approaches—including ABA, DIR/Floortime, and the Early Start Denver Model. It addresses communication, social, emotional, and adaptive skills through a family-centered, holistic framework.

  • ABA: A specialized behavioral therapy that focuses on teaching positive behaviors, reducing challenging behaviors, and promoting skill acquisition.

In short, ABA is an important part of EIDBI, but EIDBI extends beyond behavior to also include emotional growth, family involvement, and overall developmental support.
